The building is located in the northeast of the district of Las Escodines, outside the oldest nucleus and next to an area built during the 60s of the Sagrada Familia neighborhood. Its immediate surroundings are of houses of popular houses of beginning of century and in front of the convent of the Rooms and residence of the age of the Brotherhoods of the Poor men and of a building for medical laboratories and residence of patients. They all fold relatively narrow streets. It is necessary to emphasize the set of patios and inner car parks, that move away the buildings and the clinic of those of the rest of the polygon and allow to see the inner facades.


Typology/Elements

The clinic of Sant Josep is made up of a set of buildings of different periods and styles, among which the main body and its exterior and interior facades stand out. As for the exterior façade of Carrer dels Caputxins, the rhythm of the openings, which is equal to the PB and on the first floor, varies in the second and the ground floor under cover. The openings on the ground floor have frames and stone voussoirs with chains of penthouse ashlars, the same material from which the socle is made. The rest of the openings do not have frames and all have lowered arches. The wall is plastered and painted and the parament is made of brick. Between the 2nd floor and the under cover there is a line of impost highlighted in white.

As for the interior façade, it is rationalist in postwar style and has been recently restored. It is solved in PB + 4 it has a central body of semicircular plant as the main feature, next to another smaller body that works as a vertical circulation module. The wall is plastered and the plants are separated by impost lines highlighted in white. The large windows are large and arranged in groups of three windows on the sides and one in the central part. On the second and third floors there are balconies on the outside of the stairs and the floor under cover is shifted and the space released as a terrace is taken advantage of.

With respect to the interior, a staircase with the original materials and a characteristic square shape is conserved, with doors with large glassware, which is still used to access the rooms of the different floors.
