Municipal cementery
Municipal funeral complex built in the mid-nineteenth century following neoclassic and romantic styles.
Located on the west bank of the Cardener River, in the Farreres-Suanya-Pirelli area, connected to the center by the Pont Nou.
Type / Elements
With a trapezoidal plant, the cemetery is composed of two well differentiated parts. The niches' area composed of rectangular volumes arranged in parallel north-south; and the area of chapels and pantheons that responds to a romantic cut project where, after crossing the large portico of access, the different areas are distributed from a large vertebral central axis. Inside the pantheon grounds we find chapels and sculptures of great beauty, especially modernist and gothic revival architecture.
