Arch from the Botí Street

CATALAN VERSIONSPANISH VERSION

REQUEST THE LOCATION

The arch from the Botí street is one of the few examples, with Carrer del Balç, of the original urbanism of Manresa (Gothic / traditional style of the 15th century). This arch linked two of the annular streets that were around the Puigmercadal and that went from the portals of the Carme walls to the one of Sant Domènec.

Currently, many of the buildings in the area are from the second half of the 19th century and have replaced medieval and modern originals. An important part of the context is the pavement with stagnant flat stones, characteristic of the oldest streets of Manresa some time ago.

Typology / Elements

The same arches stand out that hold a part of the building above Botí Street and the double window of the P1 with a slender smooth column that holds two half-point arches made of one piece of stone each. Although the building had been plastered, the hangings over the arches and that of the P1 is fairly regular, especially the voussoirs of the arch
Originally this space served a residential function (housing) but currently is unused.
